Meet & Greet: Exploring Career Paths Beyond Academia
On October 22, our second networking event on career paths beyond academia took place at the Faculty of Engineering, Kiel University. Organized as a joint event of Biomagnetic Sensing, Neurotronics (CRC 1461), and the TF Service Center, the event provided doctoral researchers and other early-career scientists with valuable insights into professional opportunities beyond the academic sphere.
Held in person at the Technical Faculty, the event featured a distinguished panel of industry professionals, who shared their experiences of transitioning from academia to various sectors:
- Mesut-Ömür Özden, d-fine
- Christine Kirchhof, XFab
- Andreas Engelsberg, Bosch
- Stephan Behrendt-Bicakci, Semikron Danfoss
- Patrick Hayes, ELAC SONAR GmbH
- Christine Arndt, UniverCell Holding GmbH
Through a series of short talks, the speakers offered first-hand perspectives on their career trajectories and the skills that supported their move into industry. It was very interesting to gain insight into such diverse companies and fields of work related to engineering. The speakers did an excellent job of presenting the distinctive aspects of their professions, and gave us lots of valuable advice.
The evening concluded with an informal networking session, allowing participants to engage directly with the speakers and one another while enjoying refreshments.
A big thank you to all speakers and attendees for their contributions to this lively and informative exchange - We are already looking forward to the next event!
Some pictures will follow soon.
