Visit to UKSH: An Educational Insight into Minimally Invasive and Robot-Assisted Surgery
On June 12, members of the CRC 1261 had the opportunity to visit the Universitätsklinikum Schleswig-Holstein and explore state-of-the-art medical technology. Divided into small groups, we gained exciting insights into clinical practice and experienced minimally invasive procedures using laparoscopic trainers and the Da Vinci robotic surgery system at the Endoscopy School. This interactive session bridged biomedical research and surgical application — a fascinating look into the tools shaping modern medicine.
Later that day, we joined an inspiring online talk by Dr. Jiaqi Liu from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology who presented her research on bio-integrated, bioresorbable materials and their interaction with ultrasound for sensing, modulation, and actuation in deep tissues. Her work demonstrates the potential of smart materials in precision diagnostics and therapeutic applications.
