The International Summer School focuses on magnetic sensing and integrates fundamental concepts, state-of-the-art research, and emerging applications in biomedical and biological contexts. It is designed for STEM students and early-career researchers with backgrounds in physics, engineering, materials science, medicine, and related disciplines.

Additional offer: Visit to InnoQuarter on September 12
We will offer a visit to the technology and innovation center InnoQuarter in Itzehoe on September 12.
On Saturday, September 12, 2026, the Itzehoe Innovation Quarter will host an Open Day from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. More than 20 companies, startups, and institutions will open their doors, offering insights into innovative technologies, research, and business ideas. Visitors can explore the campus, meet experts and entrepreneurs, enjoy interactive activities, and choose from a variety of food trucks. You can find more information about the program on the InnoQuarter website.
We will provide a shuttle service from Kiel to Itzehoe in the morning. In the afternoon, shuttle services will be available back to Kiel and to Hamburg for participants who plan to continue their journey home from Hamburg.
Abstract Resubmission
All accepted authors are kindly asked to check whether their submitted abstracts comply with our abstract template. If any adjustments are required, please revise and resubmit your abstract via our participants information form by July 15 (link sent by e-mail).

For the poster sessions, we kindly ask all accepted authors to prepare an A0 poster in portrait orientation. We do not provide a template for the posters.
You may either print and bring your poster to the Summer School yourself or make use of our printing service. If you would like us to print your poster, please send us the PDF file by September 1, 2026, at 12:00 noon (German time). We will arrange the printing for you.

Below, we have collected the questions we have received so far, together with their answers. If you still have any questions, please feel free to contact the summer school team by email. If your question is relevant to other participants as well, we will add it to this FAQ section.
Where will participants stay?
For accepted participants who are not based in Kiel, we have reserved rooms at Hotel "Berliner Hof by Coffee Fellows" (address: Ringstraße 6, 24103 Kiel). The hotel accommodation is covered by the CRC from Tuesday, September 8, through Friday, September 11. Participants who have registered for the optional trip to InnoQuarter Itzehoe on Saturday, September 12, will have their accommodation covered through Saturday, September 12.
The hotel is within walking distance of the train station (Kiel Hauptbahnhof) and the main bus terminal (Kiel ZOB).
Check-in at the hotel is from 3 pm. Check-out is until 11 am.
Breakfast is available from 06:30 am until 11 am.
Which meals are provided? Will vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options be available?
For participants staying at the hotel, breakfast will be provided. The CRC will also cover the Welcome BBQ on September 8 and lunch on all three days of the summer school. During the summer school, water, soft drinks, coffee, and tea will be available throughout the day.
We will take all allergies and food intolerances indicated in the registration form into account. Vegan and vegetarian options will be available at all provided meals.
Please note that dinner is not provided by the CRC.
How to get from the hotel to the summer school venue? Is public transportation in Kiel covered?
The venue of the summer school is InnoPier (address: Martensdamm 6, 24103 Kiel).
It takes about 15 minutes to walk from the hotel to the venue.
You can also take a bus. The bus stop closest to the hotel is Kiel Hauptbahnhof, the bus stop closest to the venue is Martensdamm. You can look up bus lines and departure times online, e. g. on Google Maps.
Upon check-in at the hotel, you will receive a ticket for bus travel within Kiel. The ticket is valid through the end of your check-out day.
